Dr. Axe tasked eHouse to ramp up mobile and desktop conversions and improve user experience to keep pace with rapid growth and an evolving product line.

Chiropractor, clinical nutritionist, and best-selling author of ground breaking book, Eat Dirt, Dr. Axe has a passion to get people “well” using food as medicine. He encourages a healthy lifestyle through supplements, vitamins, essential oils & overall mindfulness & nutrition. The Dr. Axe company leverages the Shopify platform to create one of the largest national health websites in the world!
eHouse partners with Dr. Axe as their Shopify agency to keep their online store optimized through strategic designs and updates as they grow.
The Challenge:
Growing into a better user experience… Like many fast-growing ecommerce brands, Dr. Axe needed to stay ahead of ever-changing user experience demands while increasing mobile and desktop conversions.
They challenged us to:
• Optimize their site to convert leads and improve user experience.
• Simplify their product page interface while adding purchasing/savings options and rich content.
• Add better capability to test new features and functionality.
• Find a better A/B test to include all products on the Shopify Plus site supporting two very different pages.
• Increase site speed that had been slowed by a mess of bad coding.
It was a full plate but we were up for the task!
Our Goals:
A product page at the heart of conversions… We know e-commerce and we know that the key to a successful e-commerce site lies in the product page. One that gives the customer exactly WHAT they need, WHEN they need it, and HOW they need to see it.
With an in depth understanding of the Dr. Axe customer and business goals, we set our sights on a complete redesign of the Dr. Axe product page. We knew it needed to be…
• Highly converting for both mobile and desktop
• The perfect solution for a growing product line
• Full of rich content!
• Better aligned with the evolving Dr. Axe brand
Our Strategy:
Understanding the opportunities… We started with RESEARCH! And lots of it! Driven by our expertise in ecommerce best practices for product pages, type of products and pricing models used on the Dr. Axe site. We followed that up with intense discovery sessions that lead us to our BEST opportunities for improvement on the product page.
We A/B tested site wide against the current best performing variation of the product page design already in place and tested the new product page against the old product page site wide in Shopify. This was NOT easy!
But what we needed was a unique solution for two very distinctive Shopify themes to serve Dr. Axe customers in both the new and old product pages. Only then could we accurately measure performance revenues served through each theme.

Aligning customer and brand!
When our work was done, Dr. gained:
1. A vastly improved user interface that presented different purchasing options and savings with each option. The Dr. Axe’s customer now has a direct connection between selections of quantity and frequency with the overarching decision of a one-time purchase versus subscription and very clear calls to action to guide them through their method of purchase.
2. An easier way for customers to interact with rich content from mobile and desktop with content collapsed into two distinct sections to cut scrolling time and sticky sub nav that helps them jump quickly through key sections.
3. New standardization from an optimized gallery and buy box, with product highlights that are easier to scan.
4. A perfect solution that leverages two Shopify themes for both old and new product pages with customers allocated to each group. Customer experience in each theme will stay consistent, even if they leave the site and return days later.
The Results:
